What the KIPS series is

KIPS books are academy course material rather than textbooks. Biology

Biology is the highest-weighted section of the MDCAT, and it is where the KIPS material is at its most useful. Work it chapter by chapter alongside the prescribed textbook rather than as a replacement for it.

Chemistry

The chemistry volumes are solid on organic reaction sequences and on the inorganic descriptive material that is easy to lose marks on. Physical chemistry is drilled more than it is taught, so if numerical work is a weakness you will need a fuller explanation from your textbook.

Physics

Physics is the section where timing decides outcomes, and the value of the KIPS physics material lies almost entirely in the volume of timed practice it enables. The formula summaries are useful for late revision. Derivations are largely absent.

English and logical reasoning

These sections carry less weight than the sciences but they are also the cheapest marks on the paper, because the material is finite. Grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary in context and the standard reasoning question types can all be covered in a fraction of the time biology demands. Do not neglect them, and do not over-invest in them either.

How to use the series without wasting time

1. Study each topic first from the prescribed National Book Foundation or provincial textbook, which is the source the paper is built from.
2. Use the KIPS chapter notes immediately afterwards to compress what you have read into examinable form.
3. Attempt the chapter question bank under time pressure, roughly one minute per question, with no reference material open.
4. Mark afterwards, never as you go, and split your errors into conceptual gaps and execution errors. The remedies are completely different.
5. Re-attempt only your wrong questions after a week to ten days. Spaced re-testing is where score improvement actually comes from.
6. In the final six weeks, stop working chapter by chapter and move to full-length mixed papers drawn from official past papers.

The most common mistake is collecting multiple academy series and finishing none of them. A candidate who completes one series thoroughly and then works official past papers will consistently outperform one who owns four sets and has worked the first three chapters of each.
